    Este documento representa el esfuerzo conjunto entre dos redes de acción de la Agenda Global: (i) Cerrando la brecha de la eficiencia y (ii) la Red Global en Sistemas Silvopastoriles. Un marco de referencia para evaluar el uso de los recursos naturales es aplicado a una variedad de modelos de producción silvopastoril para determinar su productividad y sus beneficios socioeconómicos y ambientales. Se presenta una visión general de los SSP, sus principales características y ventajas en términos productivos, ambientales y climáticos, y su contribución a los ODS, describiendo los resultados de diez estudios de caso de adopción de sistemas silvopastoriles en diversos contextos en Colombia, México, y Argentina, concentrándose en la productividad de la tierra, producción de carne y leche, y desempeño económico a nivel de finca. Basados en los resultados, se presentan recomendaciones de política pública que sirvan para el escalamiento y promoción de los SSP en Latinoamérica y otras regiones.

    FAO’s Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) is one of the mechanisms to respond to countries’ most pressing needs for technical assistance and effectively pursue the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2019 Report of the Technical Cooperation Programme introduces a new series of annual reports that provide FAO Members, governments, donors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders with evidence of the impact of the work carried out by FAO through the TCP. Prepared by the Outreach, Marketing and Reporting Unit (PSRR), in close collaboration with the TCP Coordination Unit in the Office of the Assistant Director-General (ADG-PS), the first in the series presents and assesses the achievements and catalytic role of TCP-funded projects. Based on a review of the TCP projects operationally closed during 2018 and interviews with lead technical officers, technical officers at FAO headquarters, budget holders and FAO country representatives, the report provides details on the characteristics, typical interventions and results of the programme, and features a select number of in-depth stories to highlight the tangible and lasting results of the programme’s catalytic work.

    The Gaza Strip was subject to an escalation of conflict from 10 May to 21 May 2021. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) conducted a rapid geospatial analysis of the situation in order to determine the extent of the damages caused by conflict in support of current and future response programmes.
