No results found.This quarterly newsletter for the first quarter of 2019 reports on activities implemented and supported by the FAO Country office in Namibia during the period January 2019 – March 2019. The first quarter started on a positive note whereby the Country office supported by the GEF unit in FAO Headquarters successfully submitted an expression of interest to the GEF Secretariat under the GEF-7 Sustainable Forest Management Dryland Programme that was accepted and the office requested to submit a project identification form. During the period under report, this newsletter covered amongst others the following activities undertaken by FAO in Namibia: Commemoration of International Day of Forests, World Wetlands Day and World Water Day, observed together on 15 March 2019 in Namibia; signing of the project to support drought-affected communities; visit to a horticulture Centre in support of Milan Food Policy Pact implementation in Namibia; discussion on youth involvement in agriculture; farm field days to showcase conservation agriculture potential; and handing of agricultural tools to a rural women group in support of rural development. The newsletter also contains snapshots of FAO Namibia’s social media activities. -

It aims to build regular communication with FAO-Rwanda’s government, development, and community partners, offer valuable updates on projects that the reader will find informative and useful and provide success stories that inspire the public and illustrate FAO-Rwanda’s efficacy and transparency. FAO launched the use of pheromone traps and lures to help farmers in the fight against Fall Army Worm; Women involved fishing in Rusizi district were given training to improve their business and incomes and through the land restoration and sustainable food and agriculture, farmers in Rulindo were given seedlings and a market to facilitate sell of their produce.
