Tổ chức Lương thực và Nông nghiệp của Liên Hợp Quốc (FAO) xây dựng hướng dẫn này nhằm mục đích hỗ trợ giảng viên nòng cốt và hướng dẫn viên FFS đưa nội dung thích ứng với biến đổi khí hậu vào FFS. Hướng dẫn này cung cấp thông tin chính về tình hình khí hậu đang thay đổi và những thay đổi này đang ảnh hưởng như thế nào đến hệ thống nông nghiệp (cây trồng và vật nuôi), hệ thống nuôi trồng thủy sản và hệ thống nông lâm kết hợp của nông hộ nhỏ. Hướng dẫn này cũng giúp cho những người thực hành FFS có thể làm việc tốt hơn với từng nông dân và cộng đồng – trong đó sử dụng "lăng kính biến đổi khí hậu" – để xác định, thử nghiệm và điều chỉnh các thực hành mới ứng phó được với biến đổi và thay đổi thời tiết của địa phương. Cuốn sách hướng dẫn này không phải là cuốn sách giáo khoa về biến đổi khí hậu mà để giúp người đọc dễ dàng hiểu được các khái niệm cơ bản về biến đổi khí hậu nhằm hỗ trợ giải thích thông tin khí hậu trong điều kiện sản xuất cụ thể và các bước mà hướng dẫn viên FFS "phải biết" khi bắt đầu các chương trình FFS ứng phó với thách thức về biến đổi khí hậu -

In this curriculum, integrated pest management (IPM) for paddy will be briefly outlined. The general concept of IPM will be the same for these crops although the insect pests, diseases and weeds may differ from one crop to another. The name of pests will be listed for information and important messages those are unique for Myanmar situation will be briefed if necessary, rather than giving detailed account of morphology, biology, ecology and management which can be readily available in published literature. It is aimed to improve the knowledge of farmers on the pests including insects, plant diseases, weeds and rodents causing reduction in the yield of field crops and how to manage the crops to boost the crop production without deteriorating environmental resources for sustainable agriculture. -

“With all the effort I put in, I only ever got low output. If I put in less effort, I got even lower yields.” This is the statement expressed by Khammoun Heuangsouvantha prior to joining the Climate REAL project. His remark and rice output changed significantly after a year of engagement with the projecct. Hopes are high for the rice farming communities of Attapeu Province. Khammoun personally believes that there is no end to the learning and enrichment and that local farmers can benefit from continued support. It is hoped that in the next 5 to 10 years, villagers will be able to produce enough rice not only for their own families but also for sale. The potential to start a small agribusiness and gradually improve living conditions would be within reach. This is the life transforming story through the support from the Climate REAL project.
