dc.description.abstract This brochure is part of a series called "FAO's Work on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)". It aims to provide relevant stakeholders across the One Health spectrum with the necessary tools to promote sustainable livestock transformation while reducing the need for antimicrobials on farms. Antimicrobial resistance is a complex and serious threat to public health and agrifood systems as it can harm food production, safety, and security. As a result, FAO is preparing to launch a ten-year global initiative called "Reduce the Need for Antimicrobial Use for Sustainable Agrifood System Transformation (RENOFARM)". A key intervention area of this initiative is to support sustainable livestock transformation by providing tools and resources that promote animal health and production, prevent the entry and spread of infectious agents, reduce disease incidences, and preserve the efficacy of antimicrobials at the farm level.
