    La educacin representa el elemento clave para el crecimiento y el desarrollo de un pas. Lamentablemente en Mozambique factores no dependientes del sistema educativo representan una amenaza para los programas de enseanza que se pusieron en marcha despus de la independencia. De hecho, la cada econmica que se acentu despus de 1981 y calamidades naturales como sequa y aluviones se aadieron a los resultados de la guerra conducida por bandas armadas de RENAMO y apoyada por el Sudfrica y los antiguos colonos portugueses. La necesidad de hacer frente a emergencias y defenderse ha llevado las autoridades a cortar los fondos destinados a la educacin con un relativo estancamiento del sistema educativo en trminos de calidad y cantidad. La RENAMO da sobretodo a las escuelas destruyndolas y asesinando, secuestrando o amputando miles de educadores y estudiantes. Segn los datos del Ministerio de la Educacin las acciones de los bandoleros armados hicieron que slo 3.282 escuelas de 5.682 existentes en 1981 no fueron destruidas y que unos quinientos mil alumnos y cinco mil profesores abandonaron las escuelas para huir al exterior o en otra parte del Pas. El 25% de las escuelas secundarias se cerraron y esto afect al 20% de los alumnos y al 12% de los educadores. De hecho, en el mbito de la educacin, el coste humano procedente de una guerra, aunque meno evidente, representa un factor ms grave que el derrumbe de edificios. Las atrocidades y los traumas que miles de jvenes sufrieron hacen que la responsabilidad del sistema educativo que hoy se ocupa de la rehabilitacin de los traumatizados a travs de intervenciones especficas, sean mayores. El estancamiento, la destruccin fsica, la calidad baja de enseanza, la escasez de medios y la situacin de los jvenes traumatizados requieren recursos adicionales y cambios importantes en el sistema. A Italia, que ya se destaca por su ayuda en el mbito de la formacin universitaria y profesional, y a otros pas es se pidi una intensificacin de las intervenciones de cooperacin en el sector educativo mirando sobretodo a la parte formativa de los proyectos de cooperacin. El deterioro del sistema educativo hace que los problemas sociales sean cada vez ms evidentes creando, as, un crculo vicioso que pone en peligro el futuro del pas. Para salir de esta situacin es necesario identificar polticas educativas que puedan mejorar el proceso de enseanza y los programas formativos teniendo en cuenta la si tuacin actual, los progresos y los lmites de las experiencias precedentes. Muchas escuelas de las que tratamos en este libro han sido teatro de las crueldades de la Renamo. Muchas experiencias innovadoras no se han podido desarrollar y no representarn as patrimonio cultural. Entonces es necesario no olvidar las experiencias que, con lmites y errores, se han conducido en el perodo de relativa paz para seguir realizando un camino nacional nico. Por lo tanto hay que interpretar este lib ro como el anlisis del sistema educativo que tiene el objetivo de preparar los jvenes a enfrentar el mundo laboral, sobretodo en el mbito de la agricultura, garantizando las necesidades fundamentales de la populacin, evitando el xodo de los campos y fomentando, as, el desarrollo.

Ela apresenta o trabalho mais relevante feito pela Organização em colaboração com o Governo de Moçambique e milhares de pequenos produtores no país desde que começaram a trabalhar juntos em 1979. O trabalho da FAO em Moçambique centra-se nos sectores da agricultura, pecuária, pescas, silvicultura e fauna bravia. Este apoio é prestado através de assistência técnica para a formulação e análise de políticas; desenvolvimento de sistemas de informação; desenvolvimento institucional; disseminação de novas tecnologias; gestão dos recursos naturais da terra, florestas e fauna bravia; e educação nutricional.

    In recent years, several major drivers have put the world off track to ending world hunger and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. The challenges have grown with the COVID-19 pandemic and related containment measures. This report presents the first global assessment of food insecurity and malnutrition for 2020 and offers some indication of what hunger might look like by 2030 in a scenario further complicated by the enduring effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also includes new estimates of the cost and affordability of healthy diets, which provide an important link between the food security and nutrition indicators and the analysis of their trends. Altogether, the report highlights the need for a deeper reflection on how to better address the global food security and nutrition situation.To understand how hunger and malnutrition have reached these critical levels, this report draws on the analyses of the past four editions, which have produced a vast, evidence-based body of knowledge of the major drivers behind the recent changes in food security and nutrition. These drivers, which are increasing in frequency and intensity, include conflicts, climate variability and extremes, and economic slowdowns and downturns – all exacerbated by the underlying causes of poverty and very high and persistent levels of inequality. In addition, millions of people around the world suffer from food insecurity and different forms of malnutrition because they cannot afford the cost of healthy diets. From a synthesized understanding of this knowledge, updates and additional analyses are generated to create a holistic view of the combined effects of these drivers, both on each other and on food systems, and how they negatively affect food security and nutrition around the world.In turn, the evidence informs an in-depth look at how to move from silo solutions to integrated food systems solutions. In this regard, the report proposes transformative pathways that specifically address the challenges posed by the major drivers, also highlighting the types of policy and investment portfolios required to transform food systems for food security, improved nutrition, and affordable healthy diets for all. The report observes that, while the pandemic has caused major setbacks, there is much to be learned from the vulnerabilities and inequalities it has laid bare. If taken to heart, these new insights and wisdom can help get the world back on track towards the goal of ending hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms.
