    Plan de acción relativo a la juventud rural 2022

    La Conferencia de la FAO en 2017 respaldó el llamado a desarrollar un plan de acción para la juventud rural que aborde la importancia de hacer que las áreas rurales sean más atractivas para mujeres y hombres jóvenes. Bajo los auspicios del Comité de Agricultura (COAG), se elaboró ​​y presentó el Plan de Acción para la Juventud Rural (RYAP) en el vigésimo séptimo período de sesiones del COAG en 2020. El Plan presenta un Plan de Acción de cinco años (2021-2025), alineado con cinco áreas temáticas (o pilares) con el objetivo de contribuir a la realización de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) mediante el empoderamiento igualitario de mujeres y hombres jóvenes rurales. El RYAP está integrado en el Plan a mediano plazo de la FAO (2022-2025) y sirve como un indicador clave de desempeño (KPI) para el tema transversal sobre la juventud.

    La Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO) fue fundada en 1945 para eliminare l hambre en el mundo a través de la agricultura y la superación de la pobreza rural. En Uruguay, participa del desarrollo nacional desde 1950 a través de misiones técnicas y trabaja desde hace 40 años con una Representación al servicio del país. Resulta fundamental compilar en esta publicación, la memoria del trabajo de la FAO en Uruguay en sus diferentes áreas de mandato técnico de interés para el país. Lo es para brindar a las generaciones actuales que tienen responsabilidades de dirección, tanto en el sector público como en las organizaciones de la sociedad civil, y al público en general, la información necesaria para comprender mejor las prioridades y enfoques actuales de FAO a través de su trayectoria. Este tomo busca transmitir esa información a todo aquel que tenga interés en informarse sobre cuales son los temas que hoy motivan el trabajo de la FAO en Uruguay y cuales han sido sus principales contribuciones al desarrollo nacional.

    FAO’s Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) is one of the mechanisms to respond to countries’ most pressing needs for technical assistance and effectively pursue the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2019 Report of the Technical Cooperation Programme introduces a new series of annual reports that provide FAO Members, governments, donors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders with evidence of the impact of the work carried out by FAO through the TCP. Prepared by the Outreach, Marketing and Reporting Unit (PSRR), in close collaboration with the TCP Coordination Unit in the Office of the Assistant Director-General (ADG-PS), the first in the series presents and assesses the achievements and catalytic role of TCP-funded projects. Based on a review of the TCP projects operationally closed during 2018 and interviews with lead technical officers, technical officers at FAO headquarters, budget holders and FAO country representatives, the report provides details on the characteristics, typical interventions and results of the programme, and features a select number of in-depth stories to highlight the tangible and lasting results of the programme’s catalytic work.

    Following the endorsement of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication (SSF Guidelines) by the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) in June 2014, and in line with Paragraph 13.6 of the SSF Guidelines promoting the development of regional plans of action for their implementation, a regional consultation was held to discuss the implementation of the SSF Guidelines in West and Central Africa. The objective of the consultation was to raise awareness of the important role of the small-scale fisheries sector and how this is addressed in the African Union’s Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Africa (PFRS), the ECOWAS regional fisheries and aquaculture policy (under development with support from the FIRST programme), and the SSF Guidelines. It also provided an opportunity to share experiences and identify actions needed to support and promote small-scale fisheries in the CECAF region.
