الجوع آخذ في الارتفاع ثانيةً بعد عقود من التقدم المحرز. يفيد «التقرير العالمي حول الأزمات الغذائية لعام 2018» بأن عدد الأشخاص الذين يعانون من الجوع الحاد قد ارتفع في عام 2017 من 108 ملايين نسمة في 48 بلداً إلى 124 مليون نسمة في 51 بلداً. تمثل النزاعات المحرك الرئيسي للجوع الذي يتفاقم بسبب الصدمات المرتبطة بالمناخ. تعيش أغلبية الأشخاص الذين يعانون من الجوع المزمن والحاد على السواء (حوالي 60 في المائة) في بلدان متأثرة بالنزاعات وفقاً لِـ«التقرير العالمي حول الأزمات الغذائية لعام 2018» و«تقرير حالة الأمن الغذائي والتغذية في العالم لعام 2017». تتسم حماية سبل المعيشة من خلال توفير المساعدة الزراعية الطارئة منذ بداية الأزمة بأهمية حاسمة لإنقاذ الأرواح، وتمكن الناس في الوقت نفسه من إنتاج الأغذية وكسب الدخل. وتؤدي الاستجابة السريعة والفعالة للتهديدات وحالات الطوارئ الزراعية إلى إنقاذ الأرواح، وتعزيز الانتعاش، وتقليص الفجوة بين الاعتماد على المساعدة الغذائية والاعتماد على الذات. تقوم المنظمة بمساعدة الناس على: استباق الأزمات، والتأهب لها، والوقاية منها الاستجابة السريعة وبصورة فعالة للكوارث عند وقوعها الاستثمار في الانتعاش الأقوى وسبل المعيشة القادرة على الصمود -
Policy briefPolicy briefحشرات القراد وأساليب: التصدي لمقاومتها الاستثمار في مستقبل الثروة الحيوانية 2025الآفات المفصلية، بما في ذلك النواقل والأمراض التي تنقلها، تُشكّل تهديدًا بالغًا لقطاعي الأغذية والزراعة والصحة، مما يبرز الحاجة الملحّة إلى تكثيف الجهود المشتركة. وتؤثر القراد والأمراض المنقولة بها في 80 في المائة من الثروة الحيوانية على الصعيد العالمي، بما يسفر عن خسائر اقتصادية تُقدَّر بما يتراوح بين 22 و30 مليار دولار أمريكي سنويًا. ويقتضي تعزيز الجاهزية للتصدي لمخاطر النواقل والأمراض المنقولة بها، ولا سيما في ظل تغيّر المناخ، توافر أدوات تشخيصية موثوقة لمقاومة الطفيليات، إلى جانب أنظمة ترصّد متكاملة وفعّالة. وتشكل الإدارة المتكاملة للقراد، القائمة على الجمع بين التدابير الكيميائية وغير الكيميائية، عنصرًا أساسيًا لتحقيق مكافحة مستدامة للقراد ومعالجة مشكلة تصاعد مقاومة مبيدات القراد. ويُعدّ تعزيز الاستخدام الرشيد لمبيدات القراد وتطبيق أفضل الممارسات أمرًا محوريًا، وذلك بدعمٍ من تقوية الهياكل والقدرات ذات الصلة. كما أن الاستثمار في البحث والتطوير، مقترنًا بمواءمة الأطر التنظيمية، يُعتبر ضروريًا لتعزيز الابتكار ودفع عجلة التقدم في المستقبل.
