MeetingMeeting documentExamples of comprehensive and integrated approach to risk analysis in the food chain - experiences and lessons learned
An integrated approach to food safety covering the whole of the food chain and beyond: Sweden, Finland and the European Commission
2002This paper explains the need and application of a holistic approach to risk analysis and food safety throughout the food chain, at national, regional and international level. Responsibilities of those who produce, process and trade food are explained, with details of those responsibilities. Tackling problems at source using a preventive and integrated approach is emphasised and successful examples (such as the control of salmonella in poultry in Sweden and Finland) are explained. The paper concl udes by recognising the need to develop systems for detecting emerging risks, as they arise, at any point in the food chain. -

DocumentNormative documentNIMF 15.
Book (stand-alone)Technical bookMinimum Dietary Diversity for Women 2016
Also available in:
No results found.Women of reproductive age (WRA) are often nutritionally vulnerable because of the physiological demands of pregnancy and lactation. Requirements for most nutrients are higher for pregnant and lactating women than for adult men. The Minimum Dietary Diversity for WRA (MDD-W) 3 indicator defined and described in this document is a food group diversity indicator that has been shown to reflect one key dimension of diet quality: micronutrient adequacy, summarised across 11 micronutrients (Martin-P r ével et al., 2015). The indicator constitutes an important step towards filling the need for indicators for use in national and subnational assessments. Such indicators must be relatively simple to collect and suitable for large surveys. -
