2019سيتطلب حل مشكلة ندرة المياه اتباع منهجية متعددة الأبعاد، بما في ذلك الحصول على مساعدة أدوات دعم القرار لمساعدة المديرين الوطنيين على إيجاد المزيج الصحيح من خيارات المياه والأغذية والطاقة الأنسب لوضع الدول. وبمجرد تحديد المسارات المقبولة اجتماعياً والتي تعزز المزايا النسبية للدولة ونشرها، ستكون هنالك حاجة لبناء القدرات المؤسسية والسياسات وإيجاد التمويل للمضي قدماً في وضع الخطط والخروج بالنتائج والآثار المرجوة. إن فرص التوسع الأفقي للمناطق المروية هي محدودة في معظم المناطق. وقد تحول التركيز من ذلك إلى ضمان الارتقاء بمستوى أداء نظام الري وإنتاجية المياه الزراعية من أنظمة الري القائمة. وقد بات تصميم بعض أنظمة الري وطريقة تشغيلها يتسمان بالقدم. ولم تعد الطريقة التقليدية في تقديم الخدمات مناسبة، خاصة مع حاجة المزارعين للحصول على مياه الري عند الطلب. ويجب أن تأتي المكتسبات الجديدة من خلال المشاركة مع المجتمعات وجمعيات مستخدمي المياه الذين أصبحوا يطلبون وبشكل متزايد أن تُؤخذ آراؤهم بعين الاعتبار. -

2019تشهد منطقة الشرق الأدنى وشمال إفريقيا حاليًا تكثيفًا حادًا لندرة المياه بسبب العديد من المحركات ، بما في ذلك النمو السكاني وما يتصل به من متطلبات الغذاء ، والتحضر ، والطلب على الطاقة ، والتنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية الشاملة. علاوة على ذلك ، تعاني منطقة الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا من الظواهر الشديدة والمتكررة (ولا سيما حالات الجفاف) نتيجة لتغير المناخ. يهدف المشروع إلى دعم هذا النموذج من أجل التنمية المستدامة وتنفيذ خطة عام 2030 لكفاءة المياه وإنتاجيتها (SDG 6.4). -

However, less attention is being paid to the biodiversity beneath our feet, soil biodiversity, which drives many processes that produce food or purify soil and water. This report is the result of an inclusive process involving more than 300 scientists from around the world under the auspices of the FAO’s Global Soil Partnership and its Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative, and the European Commission. It presents concisely the state of knowledge on soil biodiversity, the threats to it, and the solutions that soil biodiversity can provide to problems in different fields. It also represents a valuable contribution to raising awareness of the importance of soil biodiversity and highlighting its role in finding solutions to today's global threats. -
