The report also aims to analyse the gender issues within the institutional policy and legal framework that governs forest management, in order to provide recommendations on how to mainstream gender in forest policies in Kosovo more effectively. The research forms part of a project entitled, “Support to Implementation of the Forest Policy and Strategy in Kosovo” (GCP/KOS/005/FIN) funded by Finland, which aims to increase the forestry sector’s contribution to the national economy through the sustainable use of forest resources, taking into account multipurpose forestry, and the economic, social and environmental benefits of forests, as well as the sector’s contribution to climate change mitigation. The study demonstrates women’s limited access to decision-making and information compared with men, and women’s pen ding property rights. Furthermore, the high unemployment rate is the main obstacle identified by rural community members, especially women. The report also demonstrates the interests of rural women in improving their skills in the collection, processing and marketing of non-wood forest products (NWFPs). Consequently, the report shows the importance of improving women’s access to information, capacity development and decision-making. It concludes by emphasizing that NWFPs have strong potential fo r reducing food insecurity and poverty in the regions of the study, particularly when both women and men are effectively supported.

2017Qëllim kryesor i këtij hulumtimi është që ta identifikojë dhe ta analizojë rolin e grave dhe të burrave në sektorin e pylltarisë në Kosovë, si dhe shfrytëzimin dhe pronësinë ndaj pyjeve nga ana e grave dhe burrave. Ky raport gjithashtu ka për qëllim që të analizojë çështjet gjinore në kuadër të kornizës ligjore dhe të politikave institucionale, që qeverisin me menaxhimin pyjor, në mënyrë që të sigurohen rekomandimet se si të integrohen më efektshëm çështjet gjinore në politikat pyjore në Kosovë. Ky hulumtim është pjesë e projektit të quajtur “Mbështetje e zbatimit të politikave dhe strategjisë pyjore në Kosovë“ (GCP/KOS/005/FIN), financuar nga Finlanda, i cili synon rritjen e kontributit të sektorit pyjor në ekonominë kombëtare përmes shfrytëzimit të qëndrueshëm të burimeve pyjore, duke marrë parasysh pylltarinë shumëdimensionale dhe duke përfshirë përfitimin ekonomik, social dhe mjedisor si dhe kontributin në zbutjen e ndryshimit klimatik. Ky studim tregon një qasje të limituar të grave në krahasim me burrat, në vendimmarrje dhe në informacione, por edhe të drejtat e pazgjidhura pronësore të grave. Përveç kësaj, shkalla e lartë e papunësisë është pengesë kryesore të cilën e identifikuan anëtarët e komunitetit rural, dhe këtë veçanërisht gratë. Ky raport gjithashtu i thekson interesat e grave rurale që t’i përmirësojnë shkathtësitë e veta të vjeljes dhe të grumbullimit, përpunimit dhe shitjes së produkteve pyjore jo-drusore (PPJD). Rrjedhimisht, raporti e tregon rëndësinë e përmirësimit të qasjes së grave në informacione, në zhvillimin e kapaciteteve dhe përfshirjen në vendimmarrje. Raporti përfundon duke theksuar se PPJD-të kanë potencial të madh në zvogëlimin e varfërisë dhe të pasigurisë për gjetjen e ushqimit në rajonet në të cilat është bërë studimi, veçanërisht kur mbështeten edhe gratë edhe burrat në mënyrë efikase. -
