Synopsis (short abstract) As urbanization rises globally, with cities housing over half the world’s population and expected to reach 70 percent by 2050, Ankara stands out as both a capital city and an important agricultural centre. Recent increases in agricultural areas around Ankara highlight the city's active agricultural ecosystem. To address these trends, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with FAO and the Nature Conservation Centre, has launched the "Support for the Improvement of Peri-Urban Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods" project. This initiative aims to boost agricultural production and international competitiveness.The project focuses on three strategic areas: Smart Agriculture, Competent Farmers and Strong Cooperatives, New-Generation Rural Tourism.It includes ten strategic objectives and thirty proposals, emphasizing value chain analyses, farmer training, and a comprehensive action plan. Projects are categorized into "top priority" for immediate implementation by the municipality and "negotiated projects" for broader stakeholder involvement, ensuring a practical and effective approach to enhancing agriculture and rural livelihoods in Ankara

    The project sought to address three primary challenges faced by the rural agricultural sector in Belize. These were (i) the need for a regional and territorial development mechanism utilizing the food systems approach to include rural small farmers in the national economy, (ii) the need to enhance the capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) to provide training and technical assistance to youth and Indigenous women to develop agriculture enterprises and (iii) the need to enable market access for small agribusinesses by leveraging on public market opportunities such as the school feeding programmes through an agribusiness incubation programme.

    Kyrgyzstan is classified as a land locked developing ( and low income food deficit country ( The poultry sector in the rural areas of the Kyrgyzstan is in its development phase and has great potential for creating jobs, improving the nutrition of rural residents, and generating income Only about half of the rural households currently keep backyard poultry The flocks are mostly of low quality and poorly managed, and therefore have low productivity and efficiency characteristics Traditionally, ruminants are managed by males in Kyrgyz villages, while poultry falls under the responsibility of women In most households, women directly manage the small livestock, processing the products for family consumption, and marketing the surpluses for income generation The main goal of the project was to facilitate the expansion of family poultry farming in rural and peri urban areas of Kyrgyzstan, in order to reduce poverty and improve the nutrition of rural residents.
