The United Nations declared 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables. In this context, FAO and FLAMA are publishing the 6th edition of the bulletin Wholesale Markets, which focuses on analyzing the role of markets in promoting access to fresh, nutritious, and reasonably priced food. Latin America and the Caribbean is a major producer of fruits and vegetables. Its share in world fruit and vegetable production is 15.6 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively. In this publication, we look at why people do not eat enough fruits and vegetables and what we can do to improve this situation despite this.
