No results found.The objective of this project, funded by the Spanish Cooperation, is to improve food security and livelihoods of the vulnerable communities in Maan and Karak Governorates, while contributing to water conservation through sustainable management. It also aims to empower local rural communities especially those suffering from poverty through capacity building and tool provision.The project outcome will enhance food security for the most vulnerable beneficiaries through adopting climate-smart agricultural practices, and enhance livelihoods for the most vulnerable beneficiaries through improving the knowledge and the capacities of the beneficiaries on natural resources sustainable utilization.يهدف هذا المشروع، الممول من قبل التعاون الإسباني الى تحسين الأمن الغذائي وسبل العيش للمجتمعات الأقل حظا في محافظتي معان والكرك، مع المساهمة في الحفاظ على المياه من خلال الإدارة المستدامة. ويهدف أيضًا إلى تمكين المجتمعات الريفية المحلية وخاصة تلك التي تعاني من الفقر من خلال بناء القدرات وتوفير الأدوات.وستعمل مخرجات المشروع على تعزيز الأمن الغذائي للمستفيدين الأكثر ضعفا من خلال اعتماد ممارسات زراعية ذكية مناخيا، وتعزيز سبل العيش للمستفيدين الأكثر ضعفا من خلال تحسين معارف وقدرات المستفيدين بشأن الاستخدام المستدام للموارد الطبيعية. -

No results found.A report of the 2002 World Food Day celebration at the FAO regional office in Bangkok, which was presided over by the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives HE Sora-at Klinpratoom of Thailand. It includes a section on the 2002 theme "Water: source of food security", the address by HE Sora-at Klinpratoom, a message by the FAO Director-General and a statement by the FAO Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific. Highlights of the day include a keynote speech on the theme of the celebrati on by Y.K. Alagh, Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, India and the presentation of the Y.S. Rao awards to five outstanding farmers from China, Republic of Palau, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam. -

No results found.The workshop “Promoting Water Tenure for Food Security, Climate Resilience, and Equity” was implemented by FAO and adelphi on 18 and 29 June in Berlin, Germany, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), and the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This report presents its main findings. The objectives of the workshop were to increase knowledge and awareness about the role that water tenure plays in managing water resources and in its impacts on people’s food security and livelihoods. The workshop focused on three topics: 1) Water tenure and food security; 2) Water tenure and social inclusion; 3) Water tenure to increase climate resilience and mitigate conflicts.
