Synopsis (short abstract) Dans plusieurs régions du pays, le déficit pluviométrique de la campagne secondaire belg 2009, suivi des précipitations tardives de la campagne meher, ont eu une incidence négative sur la production agricole 2009, notamment sur les cultures à maturation tardive. • Pour 2009/10, la production nationale de céréales et de légumes secs devrait être de 16,8 millions de tonnes, dont 15,69 millions issues de petites exploitations meher et 350 000 tonnes d'exploitations commerciales et de coop ératives; pour 2010, la récolte belg moyenne devrait approcher les 780 000 tonnes. • À de tels niveaux, la production nationale de céréales et de légumes secs pour 2009/10 reste inférieure de quelque 4,7 pour cent à la récolte sans précédent de 2008/09, tout en restant supérieure d’environ 7 pour cent à la moyenne des cinq dernières années.

    En 2008, le Ministère de l’agriculture et du développement rural (MoARD) et l’Autorité centrale des statistiques (CSA) ont réalisé des avancées considérables afin de résoudre les divergences de longue date entre leurs estimations des superficies des zones de culture, par le biais d’un projet de la FAO financé par la CE du nom de « Soutien au système d’information en matière de sécurité alimentaire ». Pour ce faire, la Mission a utilisé pour la première fois des estimations sur les superficies en semencées avant récolte obtenues par le biais de l’enquête par sondage de la CSA.

    The Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA) was established at COP23 to address six topics in the agricultural sector's role in climate change. KJWA has contributed to sharing scientific and technical knowledge, but limitations remain in translating outcomes into concrete climate actions. The new four-year joint work on the implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security, which prioritizes ending hunger and considers national circumstances, includes the creation of an online portal for sharing information. The four-year agenda is shaped and broadened through the submission of views by parties, observers, and civil society and will be considered by SBSTA and SBI in June 2023.

    This report illustrates the food loss assessment studies undertaken along the maize, sunflower and beans supply chains in Uganda in 2015-16 and 2016-17. They aimed to identify the critical loss points in the selected supply chains, the key stages at which food losses occur, why they occur, the extent and impact of food losses and the economic, social and environmental implications of the food losses. Furthermore, these studies also evaluated the feasibility of potential interventions to reduce food losses and waste.
