    Meghalaya, a North Eastern state of India with its economy tied to natural resource-base and climate- sensitive sectors as agriculture, water, forestry. Encroachment of forest land for agricultural activity, overexploitation of biodiversity, unsustainable agricultural practices (slash & burn) and non-scientific mining resulted in habitat degradation and pollution. India Water Foundation, as development partner with Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) under Integrated Basin Development Livelihood Program designed on Knowledge Management, Natural resource Management, Entrepreneurship Development and Good Governance through demand driven partnership madeefforts towards Ecosystem restoration, linking forest, agriculture and water as most of economic value depends on nature and its services. Forest plays an indispensable role to conserve ecological balance and biodiversity restoration and indigenous people worship sacred groves, preserve flora and fauna biodiversity and bamboo reserves dedicated to deities in Garo, Khasi and Jaintia hills served as water catchments to fulfil domestic, agricultural, customary needs. Green Mission promoted protection of catchments forests, improved forest & water foot print, diversified farmer's livelihood, income and food security. Opportunities from social to economic forestry prospered state's economy. Adapting to temperature and weather conditions, entrepreneurs cultivated tea, fruits, flowers, spices and medicinal plants & had market linkages, connectivity, cold storages and financial inclusion. Climate resilient practices like re-wilding, adaptive management augmented sustainable green cover and restored water-land-biomass balance, promoted carbon sequestration and water-energy-food security nexus.     Social inclusion and utilization of non-timber forest products species variation in ecosystem restoration

    In the era of ecosystem restoration, many parties have been participating in the ecosystem restoration in Indonesia. Many restoration activities aim to recreate functional ecosystem of the landscape. In this case, utilization of species variation that produce non-timber forest products (NTFP) can be considered, such as fruit trees, honey bee, stingless bee, mulberry and others. The study of restoration on peatland and lowland ecosystem have been conducted in two areas of Indonesia, namely Riau and South Sulawesi provinces. The restoration was conducted in the research scale in collaboration with villagers. In Kepau Jaya village, apiculture (honey bee and stingless bee) has been promoting to the villagers, while in Donri-donri village, sericulture (cultivation of mulberry and silk worm) has been promoting. Non timber forest products provide multi benefit for the environment and villagers. Social inclusion is a precondition in the success of ecosystem resoration.     Korea-Indonesia peatland restoration cooperation: Challenges and opportunities to recover degraded peatland ecosystem in Londerang peat protected forest

    Indonesia harbors around 24 million hectares of peatland or approximately 23% of the world’s tropical peat ecosystem. Some of them can be found in Londerang Peat Protected Forest that belongs to Jambi Province which has suffered from the repeated forest and land fires that were recorded both in 2015 and 2019. Several concerns have arisen from this disaster, including the degradation of the peatland ecosystem and wide-ranging socio-economic issues at the regional, national, and international level, and raising concerns from the global society. In response to these issues and to strengthen the international cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Indonesia, both parties established joint cooperation titled “Restoration of Burnt Peatland in Jambi”. The project was carried out through several activities. To maintain the groundwater table, the hydrological function is restored by constructing canal blocking and water table monitoring system. Revegetation is carried out by planting native peatland species with a high survival rate. Ten villages were revitalized in order to improve their socio-economic welfare by encouraging active participation from local communities. In addition, a peatland education center was built to raise public awareness about the significance of the peatland ecosystem. This paper aims to identify the challenges and opportunities of the Korea-Indonesia peatland restoration project in Jambi province. Qualitative descriptive approach was used along with literature study. The result showed that active participation and effective communication between all stakeholders played a huge role in the successful implementation of international forestry cooperation.
