    La situation mondiale de l’alimentation et de l’agriculture 2002 est le rapport annuel de la FAO sur les nouvelles tendances et les problèmes courants de l’agriculture mondiale. Il examine la situation agricole dans le monde et l’environnement économique global dans lequel s’inscrit aujourd’hui l’agriculture mondiale, _ et propose cette année un tour d’horizon du déroulement des négociations _ sur le commerce international des produits agricoles à la suite du lancement d’un nouveau cycle de négo ciations commerciales multilatérales de l’Organisation mondiale du commerce. Le rapport offre un aperçu, par région, de la situation actuelle de l’agriculture dans le monde, développé et en développement, avec une analyse des problèmes qui touchent actuellement l’agriculture dans les différentes régions. Avec une gestion efficace, l’agriculture, les pêches et les forêts peuvent offrir une série de bienfaits à de vastes couches de populations – tels que la sauvegarde du paysage, la protection des bassins versants, la conservation de la biodiversité et la stabilité de l’écosystème. Ces biens dits publics ou collectifs ont pour certains un caractère mondial, c’est-à-dire qu’ils profitent à l’ensemble ou à une grande partie de l’humanité. Le rapport analyse cette année certains de ces biens publics, et il invite à accroître les flux financiers internationaux en faveur de l’agriculture et des zones rurales pour en encourager la production. Il examine également l’un des nouveaux mécanismes p ossibles pour un tel financement: le Mécanisme pour un développement propre (MDP), issu du Protocole de Kyoto à la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques. Une attention particulière est donnée à l’utilisation potentielle de ce mécanisme comme instrument à la fois pour favoriser le piégeage du carbone grâce à de nouveaux modes d’utilisation des terres, et pour réduire la pauvreté rurale.

    The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge.

    The Protocol of 8-9 July 1946 relative to the dissolution of the International Institute of Agriculture, transferred the functions and assets of the said Institute to FAO. Of these assets, the Library is unquestionably the most outstanding and is a lasting record of the Institute's work and its achievement in the field of agriculture. This catalogue will undoubtedly contribute towards a better knowledge of this international Library. This volume in its present form, represents the systematic card-index, by subject of the Brussels Decimal Classification, in French and English, and it's supplemented by the general alphabetical index of authors.
