1 About FAOSTYLE

What we refer to as “FAOSTYLE” is FAO's house style. It should be applied to all FAO knowledge products to ensure clarity and consistency. We also recommend applying FAOSTYLE to web content. The guide is a living document and updated regularly. A list of corrections, revisions and updates is available here.

All FAO staff, consultants and contractors involved in writing, reviewing, editing, translating or proofreading FAO knowledge products in English should refer to “FAOSTYLE: English”.

This guide is available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.

For editorial issues not addressed in “FAOSTYLE: English”, please refer to Appendix 1 Online editorial resources. For further information on copyright, content development, marketing, and other publishing matters, please refer to other guidelines published by OCCP.

Note that some of the resources referred to throughout this document are internal. If you are an external collaborator and require access to any of these resources, please ask your supervisor.

The applicable mediation rules will be the mediation rules of the World Intellectual Property Organization http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/mediation/rules and any arbitration will be conducted in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

Users wishing to reuse material from this work that is attributed to a third party, such as tables, figures or images, are responsible for determining whether permission is needed for that reuse and for obtaining permission from the copyright holder. The risk of claims resulting from infringement of any third-party-owned component in the work rests solely with the user.
