The Codex Alimentarius defines organic agriculture as a holistic system of production which promotes and improves the agro-ecosystem health, including biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It takes into account that regional conditions require locally adapted systems, which is achieved by using, when possible, cultural, biological a nd mechanical methods, as opposed to synthetic inputs. -

The main objective is to ensure compliance with basic standards facilitating management along the supply chain and minimizing social and environmental impacts . They are an alternative that can enact similar standards to external certifications. The main advantage of this type of standard is the likelihood of its fulfilment, due to being developed internally. Likewise, the main disadvantage is the cost and time required to be recognized and accepted by customers. -

They involve the participation of workers' representatives and employer’s representatives . The state can also be an important actor involved in the negotiations. Collective bargaining agreements can be of two types : 1. To replace multiple agreements signed at a company level without negatively affecting previous agreements. 2. To establish a minimum level of conditions that must be taken into account in all individual negotiations of the company, both for unionized workers and for those who are not part of any workers’ organization.
