    In line with the Corporate Environmental Responsibility Policy, FAO manages its functional operations (i.e. facilities management, travel and procurement) to minimize its environmental impact. This report outlines FAO’s main achievements in sustainability for the year 2018, via planning and implementation of projects and initiatives at headquarters and in Decentralized Offices (DOs).

    FAO is committed to corporate environmental responsibility, in line with the efforts of the United Nations to become climate neutral. Environmental and financial efficiency, both at headquarters and in decentralized offices, has resulted in an overall reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of 29% since the start of the programme in 2008 and cumulative annual savings of more than USD 600 000.

    FAO has been one of the leaders and benchmarks within the UN system for Corporate Environmental Responsibility. The Organization’s continued commitment towards climate neutrality is now witnessed by this 3-year strategy aimed at completely neutralizing the carbon impact and reducing the waste and water footprint of its functional operations (facilities, official travel and procurement).
