    In recent years, global shocks such as climate events, the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis have significantly disrupted food systems worldwide, compounding existing stresses and challenges. In response to these disruptions, FAO has conducted a comprehensive global study that targets all food system stakeholders, including local governments.For this study, in-depth case studies were conducted in 11 cities across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America to provide detailed insights into how food system actors respond to multiple shocks and stresses. Through interviews and focus groups, the case studies capture diverse perspectives and explore the complexities of building resilience in specific contexts. This publication highlights the unique approach of resilience-building efforts in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

    Dieppe Bay fishing Community is located along the Northern Atlantic coast of the island of Saint Kitts. The area is famous for its large coral reef system. The fishing community over the years has steadily grown as the demand for fish from communities and businesses increases. The community is currently made up of:  75+ fishers; 20 fishing vessels; 1 fishers cooperative - appisterre Fishermen Marketing Supply Limited. The fishing community catches a wide variety of fish, however lobster, mahi mahi, wahoo and nurse shark are the most popular fish caught by the fishers.

    This project fact sheet summarizes the key aspects of this project Safeguarding emergency agriculture livelihoods and access to nutritious food of vulnerable food insecure farming families. (As part of Denmark's contributing to FAO's emergency and resilience activities in Afghanistan, 2021), objective, budget, geographical scope, people assisted, assistance modalities, crosscutting issues and SDGs contribution. The key objective of this project is to provide season-critical support for vulnerable smallholder farming families by assisting wheat cultivation package and nutrition-sensitive vegetable cultivation/home-gardening package.
