No results found.The purpose of this analysis is to present an overview of the status of agrifood systems in NDCs, as well as provide insights into the extent to which NDCs are contributing to the climate-resilient and low-emissions agrifood system transformations needed to achieve the Paris Agreement. It provides an overview of the major climate-related risks and greenhouse gas hot spots in agrifood systems, and it synthesizes the main climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies being set forth in the nationally determined contributions to address them. It also takes stock of the underpinning governance, knowledge and capacity and finance needs articulated to enable climate action in agrifood systems. Lastly, it highlights mitigation, adaptation and climate finance ambition gaps in agrifood systems to inform enhanced ambition, action and support. -

Transforming agrifood systems is essential to meeting these challenges, with climate response being an intrinsic element. The need for more resilient systems that can sustain increasing demands in a setting of tightening constraints is evident. Resilience must be generated across environmental, social and economic domains, all the while maintaining the economic viability of agrifood systems to ensure that transition occurs in a just and fair manner. Climate technologies are a key enabler to support climate action and the sustainable transition of agrifood systems.The report highlights the needs for robust technology assessments to underpin climate technology identification for agrifood systems transformation that addresses all stages of agrifood value chains. This needs to be supported by capacity-building programmes, targeted financing and fed into the ongoing climate policy process. The capacity-building strategy and efforts are to be tied to the technology assessments, and identify suitable and correct skill sets, especially for smallholders and vulnerable segments of the population. -

No results found.The Climate Risk Toolbox (CRTB) was developed to support climate-resilient project design. The tool is an open-access resource, hosted on the Hand-in-Hand Geospatial platform, allowing users to obtain a climate risk screening in a few simple steps. A key element in sustainable and transformative development in agriculture is ensuring that investments are designed with robust evidence about both past and future climate variability, seasonality, and extremes. Climate risk screening ensures that the linkages between hydrological, meteorological, and climatological hazards and impacts on agricultural systems are fully understood well in advance to strengthen project formulation and implementation. The CRTB simplifies climate risk screenings. It can be used by development practitioners for high-level screening at an early stage of planning processes or project design. This guide provides a quick overview of the tool to promote it and support its mainstreaming.
