Esta herramienta gratuita y de código abierto garantiza unas bases de datos robustas y ayuda a generar estadísticas precisas con el mínimo esfuerzo gracias a una interfaz amigable. Desarrollada en el marco de la iniciativa Open Foris de la División Forestal de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), Arena puede realizar y ampliar las complejas tareas de Open Foris Collect y Open Foris Calc - todo en una única plataforma.

    This document provides detailed technical information for converting bibliographic data from local databases into valid AGRIS DTD compliant XML records. The process that is to be carried out is, to some extent, complex. However, the result will benefit the Institutions and Centres that produce bibliographic data of agricultural content, in the conversion to XML data that can be disseminated to and harvested by the AGRIS XML repository. The XML repository is aggregated, maintained, organized and made available via the Internet. The main purpose of this guide is to facilitate the conversion process thorough step-by-step instructions and to provide a list of common pitfalls.

    The manual provides information on the procedures followed by field brigades for the establishment of conglomerates and permanent plots of the National Forest Inventory (IFN). It also provides information about the planning and execution of each of the phases contemplated by the operation, describes the methods, techniques and instruments used in the data collection, and details the process of filling out the formats created by IDEAM to record the data and field information. Likewise, it establishes the fundamental concepts for collecting, storing and sending botanical samples, soils and wood debris collected during sampling. The correct reading and consultation of this manual will guarantee the uniformity of criteria for the decisions that must be taken in the accomplishment of the field work. It is essential that all persons associated with the implementation of the IFN proceed in the same way, implementing the same criteria and guidelines, otherwise the required standardization in statistical processing, composition, structure and diversity analysis of forest will be impossible.
