2005La primera COAIM (Consulta sobre la gestión de información agraria), celebrada en junio de 2000, reconoció que el AGRIS debería “facilitar y propiciar el establecimiento de un nuevo modelo de gestión de la información agraria”. Además, se decidió que la FAO [1] hiciera del AGRIS una iniciativa para la creación de capacidad a la vez que un sistema de información. La red del AGRIS hoy cuenta con 201 centros de recursos, cuyo acervo y nivel de participación en la red varían, y es posible dar mayor eficacia a esta iniciativa a través de una mayor colaboración. En la COAIM 2002 se presentó una propuesta para una nueva norma de metadatos para AGRIS. El presente documento es producto de las evaluaciones realizadas durante la COAIM 2002. Define un conjunto de metadatos de gran calidad de trabajos científicos y técnicos, y tiene como objetivo mejorar el acceso a los materiales a través de Internet. La norma abarca asimismo los metadatos necesarios para recuperar publicaciones sólo disponib les en versión impresa o con acceso restringido. -

This new strategy replaces the previous strategy from 2017 to better FAO's climate action with the Strategic Framework 2022-2031, and other FAO strategies that have been developed since then. The Strategy was elaborated following an inclusive process of consultation with FAO Members, FAO staff from headquarters and decentralized offices, as well as external partners. It articulates FAO's vision for agrifood systems by 2050, around three main pillars of action: at global and regional level, at country level, and at local level. The Strategy also encourages key guiding principles for action, such as science and innovation, inclusiveness, partnerships, and access to finance.

No results found.Global climate studies show that not only temperatures are increasing and precipitation levels are becoming more varied, all projections indicate these trends will continue. It is therefore imperative that we understand changes in climate over agricultural areas and their impacts on agriculture production and food security. This study presents new analysis on the impact of changing climate on agriculture and food security, by examining the evidence on recent climate variability and extremes over agricultural areas and the impact of these on agriculture and food security. It shows that more countries are exposed to increasing climate variability and extremes and the frequency (the number of years exposed in a five-year period) and intensity (the number of types of climate extremes in a five-year period) of exposure over agricultural areas have increased. The findings of this study are compelling and bring urgency to the fact that climate variability and extremes are proliferating and intensifying and are contributing to a rise in global hunger. The world’s 2.5 billion small-scale farmers, herders, fishers, and forest-dependent people, who derive their food and income from renewable natural resources, are most at risk and affected. Actions to strengthen the resilience of livelihoods and food systems to climate variability and extremes urgently need to be scaled up and accelerated. -

No results found.The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018.
