La Smart Fiche 24 portait sur la définition de la démarche de « projet pilote » et sa pertinence dans le concert des outils de gestion. Cette seconde partie porte sur les bonnes pratiques et celles à éviter aux différentes étapes du cycle des projets pilotes. En effet, un des challenges a été d’en maximiser l’impact et de garantir leur pérennisation tout en limitant les « coûts de transaction » que ce type d’approche peut générer. La démarche s’est ainsi enrichie au fur et à mesure des cinq anné es de mise en oeuvre du projet COI-SmartFish et cette fiche en résume les principales leçons. -

Pêché sur toutes les côtes de la région de l’océan Indien occidental, le poulpe Octopus cyanea constitue une source de revenus pour de nombreuses communautés côtières. Le poulpe étant présent dans les lagons, cette pêche se pratique généralement à pied à marée basse, bien que dans de nombreux endroits la raréfaction de cette ressource a amené les pêcheurs à plonger sur le tombant. Autrefois considéré comme un produit de faible valeur consommé par les ménages des pêcheurs, le poulpe du Sud-ouest de l’océan Indien fait en effet désormais l’objet d’une commercialisation très importante. Aujourd’hui, la région exporte plus de 3 000 t de poulpe annuellement, dont l’essentiel provient de Tanzanie et de Madagascar. Le principal marché de destination est celui de l’Union européenne, en particulier le Portugal, l’Italie et la France. -

Ces dernières années, le public a progressivement pris conscience de l'impact environnemental de la production et la sécurité alimentaires. Qu’elles soient réelles ou perçues, scientifiquement justifiées ou complètement fausses, ces perceptions peuvent façonner la pêche en influençant le marché, la demande et le flux de produits. Dans le secteur de la pêche, les impacts peuvent inclure la surexploitation des stocks cibles comme des stocks qui ne le sont pas, les dommages causés à l'environnement par des engins de pêche perdus ou abandonnés, la « pêche fantôme », la pollution causée par les rejets, et l '« empreinte carbone » des activités de pêche et d'appât. Les estimations les plus récentes des espèces non visées, associées ou dépendantes (NTAD) capturées par les pêches mondiales s’élèvent à 7,3 millions de tonnes par an, dont 63 % proviennent de la pêche au chalut, avec seulement 5 % du total de l’ensemble des pêcheries de thonidés combinées.

The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge. -

No results found.The Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA) was established at COP23 to address six topics in the agricultural sector's role in climate change. KJWA has contributed to sharing scientific and technical knowledge, but limitations remain in translating outcomes into concrete climate actions. The new four-year joint work on the implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security, which prioritizes ending hunger and considers national circumstances, includes the creation of an online portal for sharing information. The four-year agenda is shaped and broadened through the submission of views by parties, observers, and civil society and will be considered by SBSTA and SBI in June 2023.
