This roster consists of scientific experts on pesticide residues who have either submitted applications in response to the call for experts or are members of the Expert Panel on Pesticide Residues. The applications were reviewed by an outside referee and by the FAO Secretariat of JMPR and selections were made on the basis of the criteria outlined in the call for experts. Members of the roster will be considered for future Joint Meetings on Pesticide Residues and for other activities relating to pesticide residues in food, but inclusion on the roster does not guarantee such participation. When making selections for individual meetings a balance of scientific expertise and geographical representation will be considered. Both Members and Technical Experts are chosen from the roster. The roster is dynamic. Experts are placed on it for an initial period of five years or until their terms on the Expert Panel on Pesticide Residues expire, and new experts are added on the basis of consideration of new applications.

The objective of this call is to identify additional qualified experts as candidates for membership on the FAO Panel of Experts. In the interest of ensuring an open and transparent process for the selection of experts and to ensure that the message reaches as wide an audience as possible, it was decided to issue this general call for candidates. This approach parallels that used by the FAO in selecting experts for scientific panels and by the WHO part of the JMPS.

The "Joint Meeting on Pesticide Specifications" (JMPS) is an expert ad hoc body administered jointly by FAO and WHO, composed of scientists collectively possessing expert knowledge of the development of specifications. Their opinions and recommendations to FAO/WHO are provided in their individual expert capacities, not as representatives of their countries or organizations. The primary function of the JMPS are to produce recommendations to FAO and/or WHO on the adoption, extension, modification or withdrawal of specifications and to develop guidance and procedures in establishing pesticide specifications and equivalence determination which has also its relevance to the registration and quality control of pesticide in national or regional authorities. Hotel ‘Rus’, Kiev, Ukraine 10 June 2013
