No results found.La Alcaldía de Manizales, en cooperación con la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación FAO, ha priorizado el diagnóstico del actual modelo de abastecimiento y distribución de alimentos en la ciudad, enmarcado en el proyecto TCP/COL/3202, “Estrategias de abastecimiento y distribución de alimentos a las ciudades de Bogotá, Medellín y Manizales”. Con el fin de formular la propuesta de política del sistema de abastecimiento y distribución de alimentos ( SADA) para la ciudad de Manizales, se realizaron los estudios técnicos sobre cada uno de los componentes del SADA y se revisaron las políticas que actualmente está ejecutando la Alcaldía, así como sus presupuestos, en el entendido de que ello facilita la puesta en marcha de los programas y estrategias de la política que se diseñó. Estos documentos han sido discutidos con los funcionarios de la Alcaldía relacionados con la temática, en especial el equipo técnico de la Unidad de Integr ación Social (UIS) y, más recientemente, con el Alcalde y los Secretarios de Despacho. Con base en estos documentos técnicos y en los resultados de las reuniones de análisis realizadas entre los funcionarios de la Alcaldía y el equipo de trabajo de FAO, se realizó un diagnóstico del sistema de abastecimiento y distribución de alimentos de Manizales, que permitió diseñar la política que se presenta en este documento. -

No results found.Para el año 2009 la población de Manizales es de 386 931 habitantes, contando con 26 909 habitantes del área rural en sus siete corregimientos (Colombia, la Cristalina, el Remanso, Panorama, Corredor agroturístico, el Manantial y Río Blanco). La ciudad está interconectada con todos los municipios del Departamento de Caldas y con los Departamentos de Antioquia, Risaralda, Tolima, y Cundinamarca a través de su red vial y troncales complementarias que cruzan Manizales - Aranzazu - Aguadas - La Pin tada y Petaqueros – Manzanares - Pensilvania. Aún teniendo la posibilidad de abastecerse de un importante número de productos agrícolas por las condiciones agroecológicas de sus tierras, el abastecimiento de alimentos se hace desde fuera de la ciudad. Este trabajo estudia las condiciones de abastecimiento, entre tipos de productos, cantidades y orígenes, así mismo los márgenes comerciales en los canales de distribución para los productos determinados con base en la Canasta Básica de alimentos de Manizales. -

The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge. -

No results found.This report illustrates the food loss assessment studies undertaken along the maize, sunflower and beans supply chains in Uganda in 2015-16 and 2016-17. They aimed to identify the critical loss points in the selected supply chains, the key stages at which food losses occur, why they occur, the extent and impact of food losses and the economic, social and environmental implications of the food losses. Furthermore, these studies also evaluated the feasibility of potential interventions to reduce food losses and waste.
