Synopsis (short abstract) El sexto Cuadro especial de expertos encargado de evaluar las propuestas de enmienda de los Apéndices I y II de la CITES sobre el comercio internacional de especies acuáticas se llevó a cabo en la Sede de la FAO del 21 al 25 de enero de 2019. El panel se reunió en respuesta al acuerdo del 25.º período de sesiones del Comité de Pesca (COFI) de la FAO sobre las atribuciones de un panel de expertos para la evaluación de propuestas a la Convención sobre el Comercio Internacional de Especies Amenazadas de Fauna y Flora Silvestres (CITES), y a la aprobación del 26.º período de sesiones del COFI de convocar el panel para propuestas pertinentes a la futura Conferencia de las Partes de la CITES. Los objetivos del Panel fueron: i) evaluar cada propuesta desde una perspectiva científica de acuerdo con los criterios biologicos de inclusión de la CITES (Resolución Conf. 9.24 [Rev. CoP17]; ii) comentar, según corresponda, los aspectos técnicos de la propuesta en relación con la biología, la ecología, el comercio y las cuestiones de gestión, así como, en la medida de lo posible, la posible efectividad para la conservación.

    The sixth FAO Expert Advisory Panel for the Assessment of Proposals to Amend Appendices I and II of CITES Concerning Commercially-exploited Aquatic Species was held at FAO headquarters from 21 to 25 January 2019. The Panel was convened in response to the agreement by the twenty-fifth session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) on the terms of reference for an expert advisory panel for assessment of proposals to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and to the endorsement of the twenty-sixth session of COFI to convene the Panel for relevant proposals to future CITES Conference of the Parties. The objectives of the Panel were to: i. assess each proposal from a scientific perspective in accordance with the CITES biological listing criteria (Resolution Conf. 9.24 [Rev. CoP17]; ii. comment, as appropriate, on technical aspects of the proposal in relation to biology, ecology, trade and management issues, as well as, to the extent possible, the likely effectiveness for conservation.

Le comité s'est réuni à la suite de la vingt-cinquième session de la Comité des Pêches de la FAO (COFI) sur les termes de référence d'un comité consultatif d'experts chargé d'évaluer les propositions relatives à la Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction (CITES) et à l'approbation de la vingt-sixième session du COFI pour convoquer le groupe d'experts chargé d'examiner les propositions pertinentes à la future conférence des parties à la CITES.     Le sixième comité consultatif d'experts de la FAO chargé de l'évaluation des propositions d'amendement des annexes I et II de la CITES concernant les espèces aquatiques exploitées à des fins commerciales s'est réuni au siège de la FAO du 21 au 25 janvier 2019. Le comité s'est réuni à la suite de la vingt-cinquième session de la Comité des Pêches de la FAO (COFI) sur les termes de référence d'un comité consultatif d'experts chargé d'évaluer les propositions relatives à la Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction (CITES) et à l'approbation de la vingt-sixième session du COFI pour convoquer le groupe d'experts chargé d'examiner les propositions pertinentes à la future conférence des parties à la CITES. Les objectifs du groupe étaient les suivants: (i) évaluer chaque proposition d'un point de vue scientifique conformément aux critères d'inscription biologique de la CITES (résolution Conf. 9.24 [Rev. CoP17]; (ii) commenter, comme approprié, les aspects techniques de la proposition en relation avec les questions de biologie, d'écologie, de commerce et de gestion, ainsi que, dans la mesure du possible, l'efficacité probable de la conservation.

    عُقد في مقر المنظمة اجتماع الفريق الاستشاري السادس لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة المعني بتقييم مقترحات تعديل الملحقين الأول والثاني من إتفاقية سايتس بشأن الأصناف المائية المستغلة تجارياً، وذلك من 21 إلى 25 يناير 2019. عُقد الفريق استجابةً: لموافقة لجنة مصائد الأسماك (COFI)التابعة لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة في دورتها الخامسة والعشرين بشأن اختصاصات فريق خبراء استشاري لتقييم المقترحات المقدمة إلى إتفاقية التجارة الدولية لأصناف الحيوان والنبات البري المعرضة للإنقراض سايتس (CITES) ، وإلى مصادقة الدورة السادسة والعشرين للجنة مصائد الأسماك لعقد إجتماع للفريق لتقديم المقترحات ذات الصلة إلى مؤتمر الأطراف في سايتس في المستقبل. تمثلت أهداف الفريق في: 1. تقييم كل إقتراح من منظور علمي وفقًا للمعايير البيولوجية للإدراج بقائمة سايتس (القرار Conf. 9.24 Rev. CoP17) ؛ 2. التعليق حسب الإقتضاء على الجوانب التقنية للمقترح فيما يتعلق بمسائل البيولوجيا والبيئة والتجارة والإدارة ، وكذلك إلى أقصى حد ممكن حول الفعالية المحتملة للحفظ. نظر الفريق في المقترحات الأربعة التالية المقدمة إلى المؤتمر الثامن عشر للأطراف في اتفاقية سايتس : CoP18إقتراح 42 لإدراج قرش الماكو(mako shark) Isurus oxyrinchus بالملحق الثاني وفقًا للمادة II الفقرة 2 (أ) وIsurus paucus بالملحق الثاني وفقًا للمادة II ، الفقرة 2 (ب). خلص تقييم فريق خبراء منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للاقتراح 42 إلى أن البيانات المتاحة لا تقدم أدلة على أن الأصناف تلبي معايير الإدراج بالملحق الثاني بقائمة سايتس.     Updates for many countries have made it possible to estimate hunger in the world with greater accuracy this year. In particular, newly accessible data enabled the revision of the entire series of undernourishment estimates for China back to 2000, resulting in a substantial downward shift of the series of the number of undernourished in the world. Nevertheless, the revision confirms the trend reported in past editions: the number of people affected by hunger globally has been slowly on the rise since 2014. The report also shows that the burden of malnutrition in all its forms continues to be a challenge. There has been some progress for child stunting, low birthweight and exclusive breastfeeding, but at a pace that is still too slow. Childhood overweight is not improving and adult obesity is on the rise in all regions.The report complements the usual assessment of food security and nutrition with projections of what the world may look like in 2030, if trends of the last decade continue. Projections show that the world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and, despite some progress, most indicators are also not on track to meet global nutrition targets. The food security and nutritional status of the most vulnerable population groups is likely to deteriorate further due to the health and socio economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.The report puts a spotlight on diet quality as a critical link between food security and nutrition. Meeting SDG 2 targets will only be possible if people have enough food to eat and if what they are eating is nutritious and affordable. The report also introduces new analysis of the cost and affordability of healthy diets around the world, by region and in different development contexts. It presents valuations of the health and climate-change costs associated with current food consumption patterns, as well as the potential cost savings if food consumption patterns were to shift towards healthy diets that include sustainability considerations. The report then concludes with a discussion of the policies and strategies to transform food systems to ensure affordable healthy diets, as part of the required efforts to end both hunger and all forms of malnutrition.

    The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018.
