Synopsis (short abstract) The 9th issue of FAO Afghanistan is quarterly base publication, provides the audience with the information in regards to FAO Afghanistan’s major achievements during the period of April- June 2017 particularly celebrating EU's successful support to agricultural development in Afghanistan over the last ten years, Extension of Technical Assistance (TA) contract worth US$4.7 million to FAO Afghanistan for the implementation of Irrigation Restoration Development Project-Additional Financing (IRDP-AF) , signing MOU with Chief Executive Office and three UN agencies (FAO, WFP, UNICIF) on Afghanistan Food Security and Nutrition Agenda, national workshop on strengthening codex activities in Afghanistan, establishment of milk collection and livestock services delivery infrastructure in Desabz, Chahar Asiab and Qarabagh Districts of Kabul Province

    The FAO Afghanistan Newsletter provides information about the FAO projects major achievements (Irrigation Restoration Development Project (IRDP), FAO’s programme events and signing ceremonies of National Strategy on Women in Agriculture, launching ceremony of Afghanistan National Food Based Dietary Guidelines and Establishment of the Dairy Federation. It also covers study tours training reports on the Food Security and Nutrition Leadership Development in the Philippines along with Field Demonstr ation for Enhancing Irrigation Water Use Efficiency which conducted to enhance the capacity of the staff of the Irrigation Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) in irrigation water use efficiency.

    The 11th issue of the newsletter highlights the key accomplishments of the months October, November and December of the year. The edition includes stories on FAO's work to create stronger collaboration on Transboundary Animal Diseases between Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Tajikistan; the 37th World Food Day 2017 celebrations in October 2017, the Dame Safety Workshop in Afghanistan, and FAO's efforts to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emission through community forestry and sustainable biomass energy system, in Afghanistan.
