This document introduces RIMA-II, the technical evolution of the FAO Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis (RIMA) tool. RIMA was completely and deeply revised by the FAO Resilience Analysis and Policies (RAP) team; it was technically cleared by a restricted group of high-profile experts. RIMA-II will integrate the old version of RIMA with breakpoint and will guarantee extended analysis and new tools for measuring resilience.

RIMA-II: Moving Forward the Development of the Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis Model 2016
    Also available in:

Building more resilient livelihoods is increasingly being recognized as one of the most powerful means to mitigate – or even prevent – food security crises. Since 2008, FAO has been at the forefront of efforts to measure the resilience capacity of people to food insecurity and the effectiveness of resilience strenghtening interventions. In this framework, FAO has pioneered the development and the use of Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis (RIMA). RIMA is an innovative quantitative approach that allow explaining why and how some households cope with shocks and stressors better than others do. The first version of RIMA has been technically improved based on its application in 10 countries. As a result, the new RIMA-II methodology provides better support for more effectively designing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating assistance to populations in need, based on what they need most.

Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis (RIMA) - Short questionnaire 2020
    Also available in:

The Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis (RIMA) is based on household-level data. Collecting large volumes of household-level data is time- and resource-consuming, and it is not always feasible in countries affected by fragility and conflict. For this reason, the size of the RIMA questionnaire has been reduced to take these aspects in consideration. A short RIMA questionnaire allows collecting the minimum information needed for estimating the household resilience capacity through short interviews; to increase efficiency, it can be collected using mobile devices, such as tablets and smart phones. It can be complemented with additional modules relevant to the project/programme to serve as an overall baseline for the intervention.
