No results found.To assist member countries prepare themselves to deal with such food safety emergencies, FAO and WHO prepared a framework for developing National Food Safety Emergency Response (FSER) Plans. To support countries in applying the framework, a pilot for the development of a FSER Plan was carried out in Thailand during 2011-2012. FAO also assisted Bangladesh in developing its Food Safety Emergency Response Plan in 2012 under the project Improving Food Safety, Quality and Food Control in Bangladesh. With these two recent experiences of Thailand and Bangladesh in the region, it was decided to share the experiences in developing FSER Plans with other ASEAN countries, including lessons learnt in the process. -

No results found.Consumers International, the global federation of 265 consumer organisations worldwide, works closely on food safety and quality issues with consumer organisations in the Central and Eastern (CEE) region. Currently Consumers International has two programmes in the CEE region, a 3-year Food Safety project and a 3-year Codex Training programme, the codex programme being the first policy training Consumers International has run for its members in this region. -

Food labelling is useful tool to protect consumer health and to prevent fraudulent practices. The handbook explains the general principles and good practices for food labelling, including international standards for labelling. Specific types of labels are explained such as ingredient lists (including allergen and food additive information), date marking, nutrition labels (back of pack panels and front of pack systems) as well as nutrient and health claims. The steps for developing a labelling policy are explained and sources of information from national and international authorities are provided.
