    The aim of this factsheet is to present the stakeholder engagement activities implemented in the frames of the North Macedonia’s first Green Climate Fund Readiness and Preparatory Support Project “Support for the management of an effective national coordinative mechanism regarding the Green Climate Fund” implemented in 2019 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under guidance and leadership of the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, as National Designated Authority (NDA) to the GCF. The Project engaged all relevant stakeholders in consultative processes aiming at prioritization of North Macedonia’s strategic climate investments for GCF funding. This also involved engagement of the private sector in the implementation of project/programme ideas, as well as consideration of the Environmental and Social Risk Management Tools according the GCF’s Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) and gender aspects. The consultation with relevant stakeholders aimed to ensure that chosen GCF priorities are fully aligned with the national plans and strategies and other on-going efforts at national level. National consultations were conducted through consultation events engaging all relevant stakeholders, including national institutions, private sector, civil society, academia and international organizations. This factsheet was jointly developed by the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, in its role as NDA to GCF and FAO.     The “No-Objection” Procedure for the Republic of North Macedonia is a technical document developed in the context of the Project “Support for the management of an effective national coordinative mechanism regarding the Green Climate Fund” – the first project of the Republic of North Macedonia under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme. The project was implemented by FAO under guidance and leadership of the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, as National Designated Authority (NDA) to the GCF. The project engaged all relevant stakeholders in consultative processes aiming at prioritization of strategic climate investments for GCF funding. The document was developed with FAO technical support and the inputs of technical staff of relevant national institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia involved in the discussions in 2019, and in particular, thanks to the guidance and leadership of the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government in charge of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of North Macedonia. This technical document will serve the needs of the National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in the Republic of North Macedonia and the different stakeholders at country level to provide guidance and all the required elements for the development of high quality proposals in the Republic of North Macedonia for GCF financial support.

    This leaflet is one of the communication products developed by FAO and the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, in its role as National Designated Authority (NDA) to Green Climate Fund (GCF) in the frames of the country's second project under the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme - “Strengthening country capacities for climate change adaptation and mitigation and finalization of Country Work Programme for the Republic of North Macedonia”. It aims to raise awareness among key GCF stakeholder groups in the Republic of North Macedonia, including academic institutions, national/local authorities, public and private companies, civil society organizations and other legal persons regarding the accreditation process of the GCF.
