No results found.Uno de los factores que más contribuye a la degradación de la tierra es la agricultura intensiva y extensiva, evidenciada en la práctica de monocultivos. Entre los impactos medioambientales generados por este modelo productivo se encuentran la pérdida de la variedad de especies y microorganismos de la tierra, pérdida de biodiversidad, y pérdida de los suelos, comprometiendo la sostenibilidad y funcionabilidad agropecuaria y seguridad alimentaria. Como consecuencia del agotamiento de la capacidad productiva de estos suelos surgen desplazamientos humanos con el fin de expandir las fronteras agrícolas en búsqueda de nuevos suelos no degradados. Se estima que el 10 por ciento (496 000 hectáreas) del territorio de la Republica Dominicana está afectado por procesos críticos de degradación del suelo. Además, la pandemia COVID-19 y los recientes conflictos internacionales, han generado un incremento exponencial de los precios internacionales de los insumos agrícolas y materias primas, con una consecuente amenaza a la cadena de suministro de alimentos y la rentabilidad de la producción agropecuaria. -

No results found.El programa Mesoamérica sin Hambre AMEXCID-FAO ha concentrado importantes esfuerzos en apoyar al Gobierno dominicano en el desarrollo y la validación de herramientas metodológicas e instrumentos de planificación y coordinación que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de las capacidades institucionales para atender las necesidades de la agricultura familiar y la formulación e implementación de políticas públicas y marcos normativos que promuevan su desarrollo. En este sentido, el programa ha acompañado la puesta en marcha de ejercicios piloto sobre el terreno. A partir de estos ejercicios, se han formulado estrategias a nivel territorial para facilitar el fortalecimiento de capacidades de la agricultura familiar y su vinculación a los mercados. Asimismo, se han propuesto instrumentos de política como el Plan Nacional de Agricultura Familiar 2019-2028 y marcos jurídicos como el anteproyecto de Ley de Agricultura Familiar. Esta publicación presenta un breve recuento de algunas de las acciones realizadas con el apoyo de Mesoamérica sin Hambre AMEXCID-FAO, que han constituido un punto de partida para validar metodologías e impulsar su escalamiento, contribuyendo a facilitar la atención diferenciada a la agricultura familiar.

This new strategy replaces the previous strategy from 2017 to better FAO's climate action with the Strategic Framework 2022-2031, and other FAO strategies that have been developed since then. The Strategy was elaborated following an inclusive process of consultation with FAO Members, FAO staff from headquarters and decentralized offices, as well as external partners. It articulates FAO's vision for agrifood systems by 2050, around three main pillars of action: at global and regional level, at country level, and at local level. The Strategy also encourages key guiding principles for action, such as science and innovation, inclusiveness, partnerships, and access to finance.

No results found.Salmonellosis and campylobacteriosis are among the most frequently reported foodborne diseases worldwide. While numerous potential vehicles of transmission exist, commercial chicken meat has been identified as one of the most important food vehicles for these organisms. As a result, the Codex Alimentarius Commission agreed that guidelines for the control of Salmonella and Campylobacter in poultry was a priority and initiated their development in 2007. I n order t o continue t h e i r work and en sure t h a t i t was underpinned with the most robust scientific data, the Codex Committee in Food Hygiene requested FAO and WHO to provide them with the necessary scientific advice. In response to that request, FAO and WHO convened a Technical Meeting from 4 to 8 May 2009 in Rome, Italy, the discussions and the outcome of which are documented in this report. This volume and others in this Microbiological Risk Assessment Series contain information that is useful to both risk assessors and risk m anagers, including international scientific committees, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, governments and food regulatory agencies, scientists, food producers and industries and other people or institutions with an interest in the area of microbiological hazards in foods, their impact on human health and food trade and their control. -

No results found.This publication, one of the main documentation outputs of the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) Project TCP/BIH/3101 “Strengthening Aquaculture Health Management in Bosnia and Herzegovina” contains, a series of seven contributed papers with useful information on the development and current status of aquaculture and aquatic animal health in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These papers were presented by national and international consultants during the various training/workshops that we re undertaken during project implementation.
