No results found.The Study was based on secondary data as well as on information provided by relevant government and non-government agricultural units at the Federal and states levels. The Study is intended to provide an analytical basis for recommending policy actions towards revitalizing inclusive and sustainable small-scale agriculture sub-sector. The Study starts by providing background information about the agro-ecology of the country, the development and evolution of the agriculture sector, the changing st rategic focus and the current challenges facing the country. It also discusses the typology of small-scale farming systems in the country and highlights the livelihood associated with them. The Study also provides description of the production patterns and the role and challenges facing the six identified small-scale farming systems, namely small-scale sub-systems for rain-fed crop production, animal production, irrigated agriculture, semi-mechanized rain-fed agriculture, forestry and fishery. T he analysis was situated in the changing local and global contexts in which small-scale agriculture. The constraints and challenges the subsector is facing and the policy responses to these constraints are discussed prior to proposing policy recommendations. -

Repurposing food and agricultural policies to make healthy diets more affordable
2022This year’s report should dispel any lingering doubts that the world is moving backwards in its efforts to end hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in all its forms. We are now only eight years away from 2030, but the distance to reach many of the SDG 2 targets is growing wider each year. There are indeed efforts to make progress towards SDG 2, yet they are proving insufficient in the face of a more challenging and uncertain context. The intensification of the major drivers behind recent food insecurity and malnutrition trends (i.e. conflict, climate extremes and economic shocks) combined with the high cost of nutritious foods and growing inequalities will continue to challenge food security and nutrition. This will be the case until agrifood systems are transformed, become more resilient and are delivering lower cost nutritious foods and affordable healthy diets for all, sustainably and inclusively. -

2021كشفت جائحة كوفيد-19 مدى هشاشة النظم الزراعية والغذائية أمام الصدمات وحالات الإجهاد وأفضت إلى ازدياد انعدام الأمن الغذائي وسوء التغذية في العالم. ولا بد من اتخاذ إجراءات لجعل النظم الزراعية والغذائية أكثر قدرة على الصمود وكفاءة واستدامة وشمولاً. يعرض تقرير حالة الأمن الغذائي والتغذية لعام 2021 مؤشرات على المستوى القطري لقدرة النظم الزراعية والغذائية على الصمود. وتقيس هذه المؤشرات مدى متانة الإنتاج الأولي وتوافر الأغذية إضافة إلى الحصول المادي والاقتصادي على الأغذية. ومن شأن هذه المؤشرات بالتالي أن تساعد في تقييم قدرة النظم الزراعية والغذائية الوطنية على استيعاب الصدمات وحالات الإجهاد وهو جانب رئيسي من جوانب الصمود. ويجري التقرير تحليلاً لحالات الضعف في سلاسل القيمة الغذائية وكيفية تعاطي الأسر المعيشية الريفية مع المخاطر والصدمات. ويبحث في الخيارات المتاحة للحد قدر المستطاع من المقايضات التي قد تنجم عن بناء القدرة على الصمود مع الكفاءة والشمول. والغرض من ذلك هو إعطاء توجيهات بشأن السياسات من أجل تعزيز قدرة سلاسل الإمدادات الغذائية على الصمود ودعم سبل العيش في النظم الزراعية والغذائية وضمان الحصول المستدام على أغذية كافية وآمنة ومغذية للجميع، في ظلّ الاختلالات.
