    The project "Reduction of Food Loss and Waste in Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye" ends on 30 April 2023. The closing meeting will be done virtually from 11:00am–12:05pm. This agenda has been prepared to be distributed and in accordance with the relevant FTPP agreement's annex regarding the visibility.

    Funded by the Government of the Republic of Turkey, the project aims to assist Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in developing measures to reduce food loss and waste. In particular, the project will support the recipient countries to: • develop national gender-sensitive strategic policy and action plans to reduce FLW; • establish FLW data collection systems, as well as measure and monitor FLW; • improve knowledge management and capacities; and • raise awareness and understanding of FLW (causes, impact and solutions) among actors in all sectors, including consumers, at national and regional level, leaving no one behind.

    Food Loss and Waste Reduction in Europe and Central Asia: Programme overview and approach to implementation 2021

    The brochure provides an overview of the approach that FAO takes to support countries in non-EU Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, the Caucasus, Turkey and Central Asia in tackling food loss and waste. This includes the development of national strategies and actions plans, activities to strengthen national capacities and food loss and waste measurement systems, promotion and enhancement of food recovery and redistribution systems, improvement of awareness as a means of changing behaviour. The approach is demonstrated on one of the projects implemented in the region.
