    O  objetivo  deste  trabalho  foi  realizar  um  diagnóstico  detalhado da  aqüicultura  brasileira, a partir de uma análise mais ampla não restrita apenas à abordagem de  temas  técnicos  ou  político‐institucionais.  Tais  temas  foram  levantados,  mas  também complementados com a análise de aspectos históricos da atividade; com  uma avaliação dos problemas e das soluções ambientais a ela associadas; com seu  papel no desenvolvimento social do país; com uma visão das interações entre as  questões  econômicas  e  estruturais  do próprio  país  com  a  sua  aqüicultura;  das  interações entre essa mesma aqüicultura com outras cadeias produtivas; da visão  que a sociedade civil organizada tem da aqüicultura e, acima de tudo, dos entraves  enfrentados e das possíveis soluções para se inserir de fato a aqüicultura no rol das  atividades de reconhecida importância no agronegócio brasileiro.

    Começam as atividades do Centro Competências para a Agricultura Familiar Sustentável na Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa 2021

    No dia 7 de abril de 2021 iniciaram-se as atividades do Centro Competências para a Agricultura Familiar Sustentável na Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CCAFS) com o objetivo de promover o intercâmbio de conhecimentos para fortalecer a agroecologia na Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CPLP) e capacitar formadores/as para a construção de sistemas alimentares resilientes. A estrutura física do Centro está localizada em São Tomé e Príncipe e o ponto de convergência online para o centro é o Hub ConectAgroecologia, que está sendo implementado para fortalecer a aproximação dos países, vencendo os desafios colocados pela distância. O Centro concluiu em maio de 2021 a sua primeira formação e continuará atuando para oferecer cursos a todos os países-membros da CPLP em caráter presencial, semipresencial e à distância.     Climate change and food security: risks and responses 2015

    End hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition are at the heart of the sustainable development goals. The World has committed to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by 2030. But climate change is undermining the livelihoods and food security of the rural poor, who constitute almost 80 percent of the world’s poor. The effects of climate change on our ecosystems are already severe and widespread. Climate change brings a cascade of impacts from agroecosystems to livelihoods. Climate change impacts directly agroecosystems, which in turn has a potential impact on agricultural production, which drives economic and social impacts, which impact livelihoods. In other words, impacts translate from climate to the environment, to the productive sphere, to economic and social dimensions. Therefore, ensuring food security in the face of climate change is among the most daunting challenges facing humankind. Action is urgently needed now to reduce vulnerability and increase resilience of food systems to ensure food security and good nutrition for all.

    What will be needed to realize the vision of a world free from hunger and malnutrition? After shedding light on the nature of the challenges that agriculture and food systems are facing now and throughout the 21st century, the study provides insights into what is at stake and what needs to be done. “Business as usual” is not an option. Major transformations in agricultural systems, rural economies, and natural resources management are necessary. The present study was undertaken for the quadrennial review of FAO’s strategic framework and for the preparation of the Organization Medium-Term plan 2018-2021.

    This year’s report should dispel any lingering doubts that the world is moving backwards in its efforts to end hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in all its forms. We are now only eight years away from 2030, but the distance to reach many of the SDG 2 targets is growing wider each year. There are indeed efforts to make progress towards SDG 2, yet they are proving insufficient in the face of a more challenging and uncertain context. The intensification of the major drivers behind recent food insecurity and malnutrition trends (i.e. conflict, climate extremes and economic shocks) combined with the high cost of nutritious foods and growing inequalities will continue to challenge food security and nutrition. This will be the case until agrifood systems are transformed, become more resilient and are delivering lower cost nutritious foods and affordable healthy diets for all, sustainably and inclusively.
