The Green Climate Fund (GCF) strives to establish and promote a paradigm shift to low-emission and climate resilient development, taking into account the needs of developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. In carrying out its mandate the GCF will effectively and equitably manage environmental and social risks and impacts, and improve outcomes of all GCF-financed activities, ensuring as well equal participation of women, youth, indigenous populations and other minority and highly vulnerable groups. This factsheet is jointly developed by the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, in its role as National Designated Authority (NDA) to GCF and FAO in the frames of the project “Support for the management of an effective national coordinative mechanism regarding the Green Climate Fund. It is one of the information products in the frames of the GCF Readiness programme in North Macedonia with a specific aim to familiarize relevant national stakeholders (institutions, government agencies, academia, private sector, civil society and international organizations) in the Republic of North Macedonia about the Gender Policy and the Environmental and Social Safeguards of the GCF that should be applied in the GCF engagement process and project development. -

Тој има за цел да ги информира клучните национални засегнати страни (национални институции, владини агенции, приватниот сектор, граѓанското општество, академијата, меѓународните организации) во Република Северна Македонија, за Политиката на Зелениот климатски фонд за родови прашања, како и Еколошките и социјални гаранции (ESS) како група стандарди на ЗКФ кои треба да се применуваат при ангажирање на засегнатите страни во активностите поврзани со ЗКФ и развојот на проекти за финансирање преку Зелениот климатски фонд.

Fondi i Gjelbër Klimatik (GCF) është fond i ri global krujuar nga vendet anëtare të Konventës së Kombeve të Bashkuara mbi Ndryshimet Klimatike (UNFCCC), për të mbështetur përpjekjet e vendeve në zhvillim gjatë trajtimit të sfidave që vijnë nga ndryshimet klimatike. GCF ka për qëllim të promovojë zhvendosje të paradigmës drejt uljes së emetimeve dhe drejt një zhvillimi të qëndrueshëm klimatik, duke trajtuar nevojat e vendeve që janë në veçanti të ndjeshme ndaj ndikimeve të ndryshimeve klimatike. Parimi i Pronësisë së Vendit është thelbësor në punën që bën Fondi i Gjelbër Klimatik në botën në zhvillim. Fondi gjithashtu e ka parasysh që pronësia e vendit është një proces i vazhdueshëm, nuk është një gjendje e fiksuar dhe që Organet Kombëtare të Emëruara (OKE) luajnë rol thelbësor në nxitjen e zhvillimit institucional dhe përfshirjen e palëve me interes për formim të mekanizmave efektivë që trajtojnë çështjet e ndryshimeve klimatike. Kjo broshurë informative është përpiluar bashkërisht nga Kabineti i Zëvendës Kryeministrit të Qeverisë së Republikës së Maqedonisë së Veriut përgjegjës për çështjet ekonomike, në rolin e Organit Kombëtar të Emëruar për Fondin e Gjelbër Klimatik dhe FAO, në kuadrin e projektit “Mbështetja e menaxhimit të një mekanizmi kombëtar efektiv koordinues për Fondin e Gjelbër Klimatik”. Transforming food systems for food security, improved nutrition and affordable healthy diets for all
2021In recent years, several major drivers have put the world off track to ending world hunger and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. The challenges have grown with the COVID-19 pandemic and related containment measures. This report presents the first global assessment of food insecurity and malnutrition for 2020 and offers some indication of what hunger might look like by 2030 in a scenario further complicated by the enduring effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also includes new estimates of the cost and affordability of healthy diets, which provide an important link between the food security and nutrition indicators and the analysis of their trends. Altogether, the report highlights the need for a deeper reflection on how to better address the global food security and nutrition situation.To understand how hunger and malnutrition have reached these critical levels, this report draws on the analyses of the past four editions, which have produced a vast, evidence-based body of knowledge of the major drivers behind the recent changes in food security and nutrition. These drivers, which are increasing in frequency and intensity, include conflicts, climate variability and extremes, and economic slowdowns and downturns – all exacerbated by the underlying causes of poverty and very high and persistent levels of inequality. In addition, millions of people around the world suffer from food insecurity and different forms of malnutrition because they cannot afford the cost of healthy diets. From a synthesized understanding of this knowledge, updates and additional analyses are generated to create a holistic view of the combined effects of these drivers, both on each other and on food systems, and how they negatively affect food security and nutrition around the world.In turn, the evidence informs an in-depth look at how to move from silo solutions to integrated food systems solutions. In this regard, the report proposes transformative pathways that specifically address the challenges posed by the major drivers, also highlighting the types of policy and investment portfolios required to transform food systems for food security, improved nutrition, and affordable healthy diets for all. The report observes that, while the pandemic has caused major setbacks, there is much to be learned from the vulnerabilities and inequalities it has laid bare. If taken to heart, these new insights and wisdom can help get the world back on track towards the goal of ending hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms.
