Synopsis (short abstract) The project’s overall aim is to contribute to the sustainable achievement of food security among rural Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanian hosts, by enhancing their capacity to successfully participate in efficient sustainable Agri-food systems and building their capacities for decent work opportunities as well as advocating for food waste reduction which has a profound effect on sustainbility,food security and rural development through training sessions. As such the project will address the capacity building, assets, financing, and employment needs of the targeted beneficiaries, through a series of activities related to capacity enhancement, asset distribution, access to micro-financing, access to markets, and job creation. The reader of this factsheet will be able to have an overall idea about the project's objectives, impact, activities and outputs in both English and Arabic. يهدف المشروع الى المساهمة في تحقيق الأمن الغذائي بشكل مستدام بين اللاجئين السوريين والمجتمعات الأردنية المضيفة في الريف من خلال تعزيز قدرتهم على المشاركة بنجاح في أنظمة الأغذية الزراعية المستدامة الفعالة وبناء قدراتهم من خلال برنامج تدريبي متكامل لخلق فرص عمل لائقة وكذلك الدعوة إلى الحد من هدر الاغذية والذي له تأثير عميق على الاستدامة والأمن الغذائي والتنمية الريفية. على هذا النحو، سيعالج المشروع احتياجات بناء القدرات والتمويل والتوظيف للمستفيدين، من خلال سلسلة من الأنشطة المتعلقة بتعزيز القدرات وتوزيع الأدوات والوصول إلى التمويل الصغير و إلى الأسواق وخلق فرص العمل. سيتمكن القارئ من تكوين فكرة شاملة عن أهداف المشروع وتأثيره وأنشطته ومخرجاته باللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية.

    The reader of this publication will be able to know more about this project, which is funded by the Government of Italy through AICS, and its overall goal which is to improve the efficiency of the value chain of agricultural products and food commodities and enhance food security and livelihoods of 200 households of host communities and Syrian Refugees in Balqaa, Jerash, and Ajloun, where targeted households will benefit from developing their skills to generate self-employment, increase their income and support their families in nutritional activities.The project also addresses the needs of Syrian refugees and beneficiaries from the Jordanian host communities by promoting self-reliance and providing them with the "know-how" and business skills required in agri-food production. The project also includes training on transformative technologies in production and market-need assessment.سيتمكن قارئ هذا المنشور من معرفة المزيد عن هذا المشروع الذي تموله الحكومة الإيطالية من خلال الوكالة الايطالية للتعاون والتنمية، وهدفه العام وهو تحسين كفاءة سلسلة القيمة للمنتجات الزراعية والسلع الغذائية وتعزيز الأمن الغذائي وسبل عيش 200 أسرة من المجتمعات المضيفة واللاجئين السوريين في البلقاء وجرش وعجلون، حيث ستستفيد الأسر المستهدفة من تطوير مهاراتها لتوليد العمل الحر وزيادة دخلها ودعم أسرها في الأنشطة الغذائية.ويتناول المشروع أيضًا احتياجات اللاجئين السوريين والمستفيدين من المجتمعات الأردنية المضيفة من خلال تعزيز الاعتماد على الذات وتزويدهم "بالمعرفة" والمهارات التجارية المطلوبة في إنتاج الأغذية الزراعية. ويتضمن المشروع أيضًا التدريب على التقنيات التحويلية في الإنتاج وتقييم احتياجات السوق.

    FAO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan, and in partnership with IFAD and WFP, launched the project entitled “Enhancing resilient livelihoods and food security of host communities and Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon through the promotion of sustainable agricultural development”. This project is funded by the European Union, through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis, the EU Madad Fund. The project addresses the reduced livelihood and food security levels in Jordan resulting from the crisis in Syria. It offers to tackle its negative impact on both refugees from Syria and host communities through support to the agriculture sector. This will be done by improving the agricultural productivity and farmers’ incomes, in addition to creating job opportunities for both host communities and displaced Syrians. The project will also promote social protection mechanisms for the benefit of the host farming community. The project also aims at creating adequate agriculture production support systems for vulnerable smallholders that support good agriculture practices and timely response to shocks and rehabilitate the capacity of the agriculture extension systems to be able to respond to the increasing demand for support due to the impact of the Syrian crisis. In addition, the project will support vulnerable smallholders and small family-based agri-food enterprises to increase the productivity and financial feasibility. The brochure will ensure the visibility of FAO and the partners, including the donor. It will provide information on the project and output 3.

    El presente marco de recursos integral tiene por objeto aprovechar el potencial de la alimentación escolar para mitigar la pobreza rural mediante el apoyo al desarrollo de la alimentación escolar con productos locales (AEPL). El marco de recursos es un producto de conocimiento que armoniza los conocimientos y las herramientas existentes y se basa en la riqueza de los conocimientos especializados de los asociados. Fomenta las asociaciones para ayudar a los gobiernos a alcanzar sus objetivos y sienta las bases de una comunidad de práctica sobre AEPL para lograr un impacto a gran escala. El marco de recursos se ha elaborado para su uso por parte de los profesionales de los programas, los responsables de la formulación de políticas, los asociados en el desarrollo, los gobiernos, la sociedad civil, las organizaciones de la sociedad civil y de base comunitaria, y el sector privado. Se basa en las orientaciones normativas derivadas de una publicación de 2009 y aprovecha las lecciones aprendidas en los programas apoyados por el PMA y otro tipo de programas, así como los productos de conocimientos conexos.
