2024Impliquez-vous à la Semaine mondiale pour un bon usage des antibiotiques (WAAW) 2024 : L'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO), le Programme des Nations Unies pour l'environnement (PNUE), l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) et l'Organisation mondiale de la santé animale (OMSA), également connues sous le nom de Quadripartite, ont conjointement élaboré un guide de campagne pour soutenir et orienter la WAAW 2024. En 2016, l’OMS, la FAO et l’OIE ont diffusé un questionnaire d’autoévaluation pour suivre les progrès des pays dans leur lutte contre la résistance aux antimicrobiens. Il leur a été demandé d’évaluer leurs progrès dans les domaines suivants : élaboration des plans d’action nationaux pour combattre la résistance aux antimicrobiens ; collaboration avec de multiples secteurs ; et application de mesures essentielles pour combattre la résistance. L’OMS a envoyé ce questionnaire à tous les gouvernemen ts par l’intermédiaire de ses bureaux régionaux et de ses bureaux dans les pays et il a été également largement distribué par la FAO et l’OIE à leurs contacts dans les pays membres. 2020FAO completed its first assessment of the world’s forest resources in 1948. At that time, its major objective was to collect information on available timber supply to satisfy post-war reconstruction demand. Since then, the Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA) has evolved into a comprehensive evaluation of forest resources and their condition, management and uses, covering all the thematic elements of sustainable forest management. This, the latest of these assessments, examines the status of, and trends in, forest resources over the period 1990–2020, drawing on the efforts of hundreds of experts worldwide. The production of FRA 2020 also involved collaboration among many partner organizations, thereby reducing the reporting burden on countries, increasing synergies among reporting processes, and improving data consistency. The results of FRA 2020 are available in several formats, including this report and an online database containing the original inputs of countries and territories as well as desk studies and regional and global analyses prepared by FAO. I invite you to use these materials to support our common journey towards a more sustainable future with forests. -

Meeting the sustainable development goals
2018The 2018 edition of The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture emphasizes the sector’s role in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, and measurement of progress towards these goals. It notes the particular contributions of inland and small-scale fisheries, and highlights the importance of rights-based governance for equitable and inclusive development. As in past editions, the publication begins with a global analysis of trends in fisheries and aquaculture production, stocks, processing and use, trade and consumption, based on the latest official statistics, along with a review of the status of the world’s fishing fleets and human engagement and governance in the sector. Topics explored in Parts 2 to 4 include aquatic biodiversity; the ecosystem approach to fisheries and to aquaculture; climate change impacts and responses; the sector’s contribution to food security and human nutrition; and issues related to international trade, consumer protection and sustainable value chains. Global developments in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, selected ocean pollution concerns and FAO’s efforts to improve capture fishery data are also discussed. The issue concludes with the outlook for the sector, including projections to 2030. As always, The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture aims to provide objective, reliable and up-to-date information to a wide audience, including policy-makers, managers, scientists, stakeholders and indeed all those interested in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
