Представленное вашему вниманию издание подготовлено в ходе проекта «Укрепление потенциала по производству и анализу гендерной статистики в рамках разработанного ФАО подхода к сельскохозяйственной статистике», выполненного в рамках Программы Партнерства между ФАО и Турцией. Проект был реализован в период с 2013-го по 31 мая 2016 года и предназначен для национальных статистических органов и министерств сельского хозяйства в трех странах: Кыргызстане, Таджикистане и Турции. Проект был осуществлен с целью оказания содействия странам-бенефициарам в развитии гендерной статистики в сельском хозяйстве и сельском развитии, для оценки текущего положения сельского населения - мужчин и женщин, и для обеспечения процессов принятия политических решений, основанных на фактическом материале.Авторы данного национального гендерного профиля ставили перед собой цель собрать и обобщить имеющиеся данные и информацию из многообразных источников, с тем чтобы пролить свет на гендерные проблемы в сельских районах и на некоторые аспекты положения сельских женщин, уделяя первостепенное внимание вопросам неравенства в сфере сельскохозяйственной занятости. Настоящая публикация призвана предоставить разработчикам политики, практикам и исследователям, специализирующимся на гендерной проблематике, более ясную картину об основных гендерных различиях в сельском хозяйстве и в отношении населения в сельских районах Кыргызстана. Представленный вашему вниманию национальный гендерный профиль был обсужден н а совещании в Бишкеке 18-19 февраля 2016 года, в ходе которого эксперты прокомментировали проект данного документа. Группа рецензентов состояла как из производителей, так и пользователей статистических данных, включая представителей национальных статистических органов, ключевых министерств, гражданского общества, международных организаций и финансовых институтов, поддерживающих проекты, посвященные сельским женщинам, а также специалистов по сельскому хозяйству и по гендерным вопросам. Данное изд ание содержит сделанные ими конкретные предложения и рекомендации. -

The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge. -

Urbanization, agrifood systems transformation and healthy diets across the rural–urban continuum
2023This report provides an update on global progress towards the targets of ending hunger (SDG Target 2.1) and all forms of malnutrition (SDG Target 2.2) and estimates on the number of people who are unable to afford a healthy diet. Since its 2017 edition, this report has repeatedly highlighted that the intensification and interaction of conflict, climate extremes and economic slowdowns and downturns, combined with highly unaffordable nutritious foods and growing inequality, are pushing us off track to meet the SDG 2 targets. However, other important megatrends must also be factored into the analysis to fully understand the challenges and opportunities for meeting the SDG 2 targets. One such megatrend, and the focus of this year’s report, is urbanization. New evidence shows that food purchases in some countries are no longer high only among urban households but also among rural households. Consumption of highly processed foods is also increasing in peri-urban and rural areas of some countries. These changes are affecting people’s food security and nutrition in ways that differ depending on where they live across the rural–urban continuum. This timely and relevant theme is aligned with the United Nations General Assembly-endorsed New Urban Agenda, and the report provides recommendations on the policies, investments and actions needed to address the challenges of agrifood systems transformation under urbanization and to enable opportunities for ensuring access to affordable healthy diets for everyone. -

Moving forward on food loss and waste reduction
2019The need to reduce food loss and waste is firmly embedded in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Food loss and waste reduction is considered important for improving food security and nutrition, promoting environmental sustainability and lowering production costs. However, efforts to reduce food loss and waste will only be effective if informed by a solid understanding of the problem. This report provides new estimates of the percentage of the world’s food lost from production up to the retail level. The report also finds a vast diversity in existing estimates of losses, even for the same commodities and for the same stages in the supply chain. Clearly identifying and understanding critical loss points in specific supply chains – where considerable potential exists for reducing food losses – is crucial to deciding on appropriate measures. The report provides some guiding principles for interventions based on the objectives being pursued through food loss and waste reductions, be they in improved economic efficiency, food security and nutrition, or environmental sustainability.
