Обусловленный ею кризис негативно отразился на производстве продовольствия, здоровье фермеров, доступе к средствам сельскохозяйственного производства и рынкам, занятости в сельских районах и источниках средств к существованию и привел к снижению спроса на продовольствие как в сельских, так и в городских районах вследствие потери работы и доходов. Данный кризис наглядно продемонстрировал насущную необходимость принятия на глобальном уровне совместных скоординированных мер, призванных не допустить перерастания глобального кризиса в области здравоохранения в продовольственный кризис. Продовольственная коалиция представляет собой глобальный альянс с участием широкого круга заинтересованных сторон – "сеть сетей" – для содействия единству действий в мире по реализации ответных мер и восстановлению после COVID-19. Коалиция служит нейтральной площадкой для диалога между различными ключевыми заинтересованными сторонами и призвана содействовать мобилизации финансовых ресурсов, инноваций и технического опыта, а также реализации информационно-просветительских инициатив в поддержку наиболее нуждающихся стран. Кроме того, участники Продовольственной коалиции решительно привержены Повестке дня на период до 2030 года. Коалиция будет поддерживать усилия, направленные на то, чтобы помочь странам своевременно достичь ЦУР 1 и ЦУР 2 (ликвидация нищеты и голода), и, в частности, содействовать преобразованию агропродовольственных систем, улучшению качества питания, повышению продуктивности сельского хозяйства и доходов мелких и семейных фермерских хозяйств, повышению уровня жизни в сельских районах, а также устранению обусловленных пандемией сбоев и последствий для уязвимых групп населения, особенно женщин, молодежи и коренных народов.

Brochure, flyer, fact-sheetBrochureПогодные катаклизмы и кризис, вызванный пандемией COVID-19: как эта двойная угроза может отразиться на ситуации с наличием продовольствия 2020Пандемия COVID-19 оказывает чрезвычайно негативное влияние на мировую экономику и происходит в условиях быстрого изменения климата. Ожидается, что нынешний год станет вторым самым жарким за всю историю наблюдений. Прогнозы погоды на 2020 год указывают на высокую вероятность негативного влияния погодных катаклизмов на производство продовольствия во многих странах. Настоящая аналитическая записка подготовлена на основе исторических данных, которые свидетельствуют о том, что ухудшение ситуации с наличием продовольствия, вызванное сложными погодными условиями, обычно бывает значительно более выраженным, если это случается во время глобального экономического спада. Риски, связанные с этой двойной угрозой, особенно высоки для бедных стран, являющихся чистыми импортерами продовольствия. Для предотвращения серьезных сокращений запасов продовольствия и связанных с этим рисков отсутствия продовольственной безопасности абсолютно необходимы меры по смягчению этих неблагоприятных последствий в краткосрочной перспективе, а также повышение устойчивости агропродовольственных систем к будущим потрясениям.

By the end of the 20th century, Brazil’s economy was growing fast, but the gap between rich and poor was widening and 44 million of the country’s 170 million people were caught in a hunger trap. They were too poor to buy the food they needed for a healthy life and so were denied the opportunity of participating in Brazil’s growing prosperity. Zero Hunger was launched by President Lula in 2003 to help improve the situation by introducing a new development model centred on hunger eradication and social inclusion, linking macro-economic, social and productive policies. He sought to make this a truly national effort by engaging the widest possible participation of Brazilians.

Moving forward on food loss and waste reduction
2019The need to reduce food loss and waste is firmly embedded in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Food loss and waste reduction is considered important for improving food security and nutrition, promoting environmental sustainability and lowering production costs. However, efforts to reduce food loss and waste will only be effective if informed by a solid understanding of the problem. This report provides new estimates of the percentage of the world’s food lost from production up to the retail level. The report also finds a vast diversity in existing estimates of losses, even for the same commodities and for the same stages in the supply chain. Clearly identifying and understanding critical loss points in specific supply chains – where considerable potential exists for reducing food losses – is crucial to deciding on appropriate measures. The report provides some guiding principles for interventions based on the objectives being pursued through food loss and waste reductions, be they in improved economic efficiency, food security and nutrition, or environmental sustainability. -

Selection of high quality horticultural produce for processing and implementation of good practices during processing operations are required to assure both the quality of the produce and the safety of the final product. This technical guide reviews, from a theoretical and practical perspective, the critical issues that must be addressed for fresh-cut produce to meet consumer demand for convenience, quality and safety. A case study on fresh-cut processing in Thailand is included. The guide should be of practical value to small processors, trainers and extension workers who provide support to individuals engaged in production of fresh-cut tropical produce for sale.
